ANN DRIGGERS: Some people ask me why I get up so early, and I answer with this-- why would I not? It is a gift, and there is no better way to start the day. The stillness of the early morning sets the tone. Often my commute is the only alone time I have.

I savior moments for myself, to have solace, to connect with nature, and gather my thoughts at the beginning of the workday.

I try to incorporate something of nature's treasures in my life every day. Riding on my commute is an easy way to do it.

I call my evening commute therapy on wheels. After a day at the computer, and in meetings, it's my way to get re centered and connected to the outdoors again.

While I cherish my solo rides, nothing is better than riding with friends.

Photography is a way to capture what the outside means to me, take it home to share, and hopefully inspire others.

Much we do revolves around Mount Sopris, the matriarch of the Roaring Fork Valley. I feel a deep connection to this mountain. Whatever the season, we are playing on her, around her, or just gazing at her in aw.

I don't often get the opportunity to travel away from here. Exploring my own backyard, finding the adventure that is here, and getting to know my local landscape intimately is immensely satisfying to me.

I'm Ann Driggers, photographer, biker, and weekend warrior, and this is my backyard.
