Battling for an FKT on Scotland’s West Highland Way

Stretching from just outside Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, to the iconic highland town of Fort William, the 95mile West Highland Way is a world-famous, multi-day traverse beloved by walkers.Over the past decade,a hardy band of mountain bikers havebeen vying for record times along the route. This film, produced byfeatures professional mountain biker, whomadehis first go at the FKTin 2012,completing the ridein 12 hours9 minutes. His record was brokena few years later. But in2019, Wardellwas back again,setting his sights on reclaiming the record with a sub-ten-hour time.While hewas training for the effort, however, rider Gary McDonaldset the bar even higher with ablistering 9 hours 28​ minutes, making Wardell’s goal that much harder.
