In 1988,  and Rebecca Wight were attacked by Stephen Roy Carr on the Appalachian Trail. Shot on the actual locations where the attack took place,  intertwines both narrative and documentary elements for a gripping look at what happened that day. The dramatizations were written by Brenner herself, who went on to serve as an advocate for hate crime legislation. You can find more on the story , and filmmaker Austin Bunn .
