Weeks before the peak of the 2019 racing season, road cyclist Chris Froome crashed into a wall on a training ride, sustaining several injuries, including a broken femur. “As an athlete, as a human being, when plans change and difficulties arise, that’s often where people throw in the towel and give up,” Froome says. He took a different approach. After months of physical therapy and rest, Froome fought his way back into competition shape for the 2021 season.
