The world’s first consumer multitool, designed by cutler with two blades, a screwdriver, and a can opener. It was first distributed to Swiss soldiers in 1891. Thirty years later, Elsener branded his company , combining the name of his late mother, Victoria, with inoxydable, French for “stainless” (as in stainless steel). Later versions have featured an altimeter, an alarm clock, and a USB flash drive.
