One of the most overlooked aspects of GoPro’s recent Hero 4 launch was the release of version 2.5 of the company’s free Studio editing suite. Embedded in Studio 2.5 is an extreme slow-motion feature called Flux.
If you ski in the terrain park and can’t yet order a drink at a bar, you’ve probably already heard of Flux by its proprietary Adobe Premiere plugin name . They work the same way, interpolating and creating frames between the ones your camera has actually captured.
The result is that, on clean backgrounds like blue sky, snow, or water, you can produce movies that look like they were shot at 1,000 frames per second. The big news, though is the price. Twixtor Pro still costs $600. Studio with Flux is free and works just as well on DSLR and handicam footage as it does on GoPro clips.
