Bespoke skis go high tech this winter with Wagner Custom Skis’ new DNA ski-fit technology, which embeds an “optical navigation chip” on tester boards to take high-speed photos of the passing snow (6,000 shots per second). Those photos are used to model how the skis are moving three-dimensionally, which shows the designers exactly how you ski—and exactly how to tailor a ski to your specific style. The technology was exclusive to the U.S. team for the 2010 Olympics and remains exclusive to Wagner this year. Next year? Look for your gaper buddy with new sticks to be carving cleaner turns than you.
