CUSTOM FIT
We were on high gimmick alert when testing the Paris Trainers, which use a pneumatic pump to create a custom rear-foot fit. Not all testers felt the benefit (those who did liked the snugness), but we downgraded the alert to low when, even without the pump, the shoe proved to be a versatile, no-frills trainer that offers mild pronation control and extensive energy return. “Runs comfortably at slow speeds, but it also lets you get up on your toes and go,” said one tester. 12.8 oz; rbk.com
Bonus: Reflective overlays on the upper glow in a car’s headlights.
Bummer: We’d like to see better pump instructions (for instance, there’s no indication of how much pumping action is required).
