If a moon boot gave birth to a trail runner, it would look like the Ochoco. But we doubt it would run as well. The padded ankle, soft tongue, and firm arch support gave us blissful feet after long hours pounding the trail. The just-right midsole has enough cushioning for comfort but not so much that you’ll feel like you’re going to topple over on technical, rocky trails. 11 oz; www.keenfootwear.com
Bonus: The asymmetrical lacing system lets you crank down without cutting off circulation—a nice feature for steep descents.
Bummer: The flexy toe could use a touch more stiffness.
