Over the past few years, we’ve field-tested nearly a dozen Ruff Wear products, from insulated jackets and lightweight backpacking dog beds to PFDs and even climbing harnesses. But all our dog-owning editors were especially excited about Ruff Wear’s new Omnijore joring system, a hip belt, towline, and dog harness combo that allows your dog to pull you whether you’re cross-country skiing, skateboarding, or biking.

Though we have yet to ski with it, one of our testers tried an early test sample out while trail running this spring. His early verdict: sturdily made, (seemingly) comfy for the dog, and plug-and-play in terms of its intuitive design. The hipbelt is well-padded and has an emergency quick release should you take a tumble or hit a snag, and it has pouches and a slot for a water bottle. All three sizes will be available October 2011

The Ruff Wear Omnijore joring system was one of our editor’s 10 picks for Gear of the Show at Outdoor Retailer’s summer show, 2011. Click here to see the rest.
