The trade show—the biannual meeting of the outdoor industry in Salt Lake City—kicked off today at their open air demo at Solitude ski resort. Over the next four days, I’ll be checking out the hottest new women’s gear for winter 2013-14. Want to know who has the best female baselayers? How about my favorites in goggles, snowboard, helmets, and outerwear? Follow me on . I’ll be tweeting live from the show, informing you of all the items I can’t wait to get my hands on.
DEMO DAY TAKEAWAYS FOR THE LADIES:
1. ’s Cochise 105 w ski boots ($549) will be the narrowest freeride alpine-touring ski boots on the market. Take note women with slender feet.
2. ‘ new powder snowboard, the women’s Hovercraft, is drool-worthy. A wood top sheet steals the show from an aesthetic standpoint. Can’t wait to get it in the deep stuff.
3. I adore ’s Shiva AT ski boots. Every time I ski tour with my husband, I can’t stop gushing over how comfortable these are. And coming from a regular snowboarder, that’s good compliment for a pair of ski boots. Next year, BD updates them with swappable pods underfoot so you can wear them comfortably for a day of alpine skiing at the resort or for a day in the backcountry. That two-for-one is serious bang for your buck.
4. ‘s—one of my favorite packmakers—new Reverb 10 + 18 sidecountry packs ($89 and $99, respectively) can carry skis (diagonally) and snowboards (vertically and horizontally) and has all the bells and whistles you want for snow safety tools like a shovel stash and hydration reservoir insulation. But, it’s low-profile, so it won’t be cumbersome on the lift or in the trees.
