We’re still not sure what to make of Ortovox’s Mountain Skyver, a collapsible mountain bike/off-road scooter, but we can tell you one thing: we definitely want to check one out. The premise is simple. You hike up with it on your back—the final version will weigh around 19 pounds and come with its own custom backpack—and then ride it down. As you can see, there are no pedals or seat. You just stand on the foot pegs and point it downhill. The front wheel is 20 inches in diameter, while the rear is 16, and it will be available in a full-suspension (80mm of travel in both front and back) version for $1,600 and a hard tail model for $1,200. While we’ve never seen anything quite like it, we must admit that we felt oddly compelled to take one for a spin. Available September 2011
