With a tiny Bluetooth-enabled cell-phone headset built into the thick temples, the Confidant is simultaneously cool and practical. Even better, the earbud is removable—and, if you break it, replaceable—and Zeal didn’t shortchange the photochromic lenses. The impressive tint-density range (23 percent to 87 percent light transmission) can handle everything from gloomy Seattle to sunny L.A. Coverage is borderline skimpy for light-intensive activities, like skiing in the sun, but security and feel are good for most sports. The Confidants stayed put during a workout that involved lots of facedown and inverted body positions (nobody called, though). Rx-able; zealoptics.com
Bonus: Louder and clearer than most Bluetooth headsets out there.
Bummer: Accessing your phone’s voice dialing—for making hands-free outgoing calls—is awkward.
