Even in July, I layer up before I board a plane. Two clothing companies you’ll get to know well: Sense () and Lucy (). They both offer elegant, active clothes that you can look good in while doing asanas, running to your gate, or taking a cab straight to a casual cocktail party.
Lucy Power Precision Jacket

Sense’s Double Strap Cami ($59) is made in southern California from a cashmere-soft fabric derived from beechwood. With a built-in shelf bra and back-enhancing, criss-crossing straps, the Cami comes as close to wearing a second skin as you can get. On the bottom, add Sense’s elegant Palazzo pant ($130), and you can get off the plane and head straight for the opera.
When that inevitable airplane chill starts to settle in, layer the Cami with Lucy’s Power Precision Jacket ($88), a feminine piece made from moisture-wicking Powermax fabric. The Power Precision is workout ready, but with a slightly-lower-than empire waist that adds a special frill, you won’t want to soil such a good-looking piece with sweat. If you’re still cold, pull on Lucy’s Four Corner’s Vest ($98). With a shawl collar and a flattering body-skimming cut, this jacket is glamorous. The best part, however, is that it’s also water resistant and warm enough to protect you against the elements—like that broken blower above your seat on the plane.
