SUMMER-WEIGHT CHAMP
Meet our new warm-weather favorite. The track-suit-inspired Avido was a godsend in the middle of summer when we didn’t want to stuff a full-on rain shell in our packs but then got blasted by cold winds up in the hills. The reason, as one tester pointed out, is that “it’s basically a glorified windshell.” The DWR-coated ripstop nylon can handle a bit of light rain, but with large swaths of mesh under the arms and along the chest to keep things cool, it’s not designed to withstand prolonged wet weather. 7 oz; outdoorresearch.com
Bonus: Thanks to a bit of reflective tape and a stash pocket on the lower back, it’s great for running after hours or in cool conditions.
