THE SELL: A partially freestanding two-person double-wall tent that weighs a scant two pounds. THE TEST: Compared to most tent poles, Easton’s crazy-light, pencil-thin carbon-fiber ones feel like fly rods. But they held up fine against 30-mph gusts on Oregon’s Deschutes River. Easton took advantage of the weight savings to employ durable fabrics on the fly and floor. Inevitably, two pounds means only one (smallish) door, one vestibule, and a cozy floor plan: just 26 square feet. It’s snug (many two-person tents offer 35 square feet), but a decent peak height (44 inches) makes it surprisingly livable. THE VERDICT: Light-and-fast types willing to sacrifice a bit of space—and take a few moments to stake out the back corners—will love it. 2 lbs.
