The four-person iteration of Big Agnes’s popular Copper Spur series provides an astonishing 57 square feet—room enough for ten people (!) to circle up inside—at a mere five and a half pounds. How did they do it? With super¬≠light fabrics, of course, but also by capitalizing on recently developed lightweight sockets and connectors to hoist the heavy-gauge but lightweight aluminum poles up to nearly vertical walls. The hubs also make setup a snap—just shake the poles out, clip them into the corner sockets, and go. Huge double doors effectively mean his-and-hers bathrooms. As always, Big Agnes nailed the
details: eight stash pockets, no-drip vestibules, and reflective guylines and webbing for nighttime campsite safety. It ain’t cheap, but think of it this way: you get the square footage of two two-person tents for the weight of one. 5.7 lbs.
