Winnebago isn’t exactly synonymous with adrenaline-fueled adventure. The Iowa-based company’s old-school motorhomes have appeared in movies like Spaceballs and Meet the Fockers, a reliable Midwestern touring vehicle for retirees.
The completely redesigned 2015 Travato demolishes that stereotype. Decidedly sexier than its predecessors, the Travato boasts brand-new front and rear styling, plus loud body-paint options (bright red!).
The RV measures just under 21 feet long and about nine feet tall, making it well-suited to rough roads and tight-ish corners. It’s no Subaru Outback, but the independent front suspension and Ram ProMaster V6 chassis will get you over a washed-out forest road. It doesn’t even guzzle that much gas: an estimated 20 mpg on the highway.
Inside, you’ll find creature comforts such as a 22-inch HDTV, an updated double bed with storage, a full kitchen, leather upholstery, blackout shades, and a built-in GPS system. The Travato sleeps up to four people. Western road trip, anyone?
