THE SELL: A sturdy all-mountain steed. THE TEST: Though the 575 is a cherished six-inch standby in the Yeti line, its agility on the lumpiest terrain still surprised us. Credit the through-axle Fox FIT 32 fork—which many thought was too puny until they rode it—and the new tapered headtube. On the steep drops in the boulders north of Tucson’s Catalina State Park, the newly stiffened rear end, which mates a chunky chainstay design to a revamped pivot mount, felt rock solid. THE VERDICT: The only letdown was the slower-shifting and less durable SRAM X7 drivetrain. But at this price, with such a refined frame, fork, and shock (all three are identical to Yeti’s top-of-the-line 575 model’s), the compromise is worth it. 29 lbs
