Case in point: the newly released Famous Friends of the Wolf Cookbook (Adams Media Corporation, $30), in which 100 earnest celebrities offer their favorite recipes, accompanied by fawning blurbs, playful wolf This is not to say that Reid and partner Sheila Liermann aren’t operating with the best of intentions. About $2 from each sale goes to the Idaho-based Wolf Education and Research Center. And certainly they had no doubts that the collection would be a success: Prior to this project, the duo hit it big in Sun Valley with a cookbook that raised more than $100,000 for Beyond Shriver’s salad, offerings include Clint Eastwood’s Spaghetti Western, Mister Rogers’s Corn Pudding, and yes, Jane Fonda and Ted Turner’s Buffalo in the Style of Tuscany. Would a pack of hungry wolves approve of the menu? “You bet,” says WERC general director Kathy Maechtle. “I can’t see any reason why they wouldn’t.” |
