On Tuesday, Jenny Simpson ran the final 600 meters of the 1,500-meter finals at the IAAF World Championships in Beijing without a shoe, . The heel of her shoe got caught on another runner and slipped off, .

Simpson, who won a gold medal in the 1,500 meters at the 2011 World Championships, crossed the finish line with a time of 4:16.28 for 11th place.

“I just thought, there’s no way I’m not going to finish.
