Mark McCracken was fishing a halfmile off Gaviota State Beach, in Southern California, when a hammerhead shark started ramming and biting his kayak, according to byMcCracken on Monday. After hitting the shark with his paddle more than 20 times, the animal retreated enough for McCracken to paddle back to shore.
“Even after I was on shore, he paced back and forth in about three feet of water, like he was just waiting for me to come back out,” McCrackenwrote onInstagram. “Pretty bizarre and crazy experience to say the least.”
