Cycling’s governing body, the UCI, has filed suit against journalist and doping critic Paul Kimmage for articles published in and , including an interview in which Floyd Landis accused the UCI of a doping cover-up. The UCI’s statement, released Sunday, claims Kimmage falsely accused them of “having knowingly tolerated tests, of being dishonest people, of not having a sense of responsibility, of not applying the same rules to everyone.” UCI president Pat McQuaid and former UCI president Hein Verbruggen jointly filed with the UCI in Swiss court for “damage to reputation.” Each are seeking compensation of about $8,700. Last May, the UCI announced it would sue Landis for statements made in the same interview, but Landis reported on Sunday that . Kimmage confirmed that he had received formal documentation about the case but that he had of making any sort of retraction. “Hell will freeze over before I issue either of those gentlemen an apology for anything, he said.
