The World Air Sports Federation announced it would at its events after two pilots died in Spain last week. Chile’s Eitel von Mulhenbrock and Francisco Vargas, of Argentina, both died in crashes while competing in the Paragliding World Championships in Piedrahita. Some pilots, including pilot and blogger Mads Syndergaard, have expressed concerns that new two-liner competition gliders may be more likely to suffer an “unrecoverable” collapse. In a separate incident, search and rescue teams in Peru , a French pilot who disappeared in the Andes while scouting locations for an upcoming Paragliding World Cup. The Paragliding World Cup Association said that Murillo appeared to have been taking a picture when he lost control of his glider.
