Spanish manufacturer Fixe-Faders has announced that it will begin Alien cams, one of rock climbing’s most coveted items of gear, a year and a half after the cams went out of production. Aliens, small camming devices that allow climbers to protect themselves from falls, went off the market following the 2009 death of inventor Dave Waggoner. Waggoner, whose company Colorado Custom Hardware produced the devices, stipulated that whatever manufacturer took over production of Aliens be a small-to-medium size company that used the same machinery and sources of raw material. According to Spanish climbing site , Fixe-Faders spent a year and a half negotiating with Waggoner’s widow before obtaining the patent. The company plans to return Aliens to the market in September; prices have not yet been announced.
