Wolf Creek, a ski resort in southeastern Colorado known for it's large early season snowfalls, issued a statement today that it's ski patrol director was killed in an avalanche today at 7:45 a.m. The man's name and not revealed in the statement, and no circumstances surrounding his death were revealed except that he was “working to protect others” at the time — presumeably inbounds — and that he had a wife and two children. The resort, which already has 53 inches of base and was hit with another storm last night, shut down for the day in his honor. —JUSTIN NYBERG
