For those willing to experiment on a snowboard worth a few hundred dollars or more, get out your power tools. Timeline and have a put together a pretty cool tutorial on how to build a splitboard.
“It can be scary to cut your own board,” says the snowboarder. “But often—after you’ve done it once—it’s totally doable.”
The footage is detailed and I think it’s fair to say, romantic—instructions from a dimly lit cobblestone workroom narrated in a soft, french accent, rolling camera shots of de le Rue sanding down the board, soft focus close-ups of a drill popping through the board. We imagine the build will be slightly less smooth for the first-timer, with the words uttered in the workroom coming out a bit louder.
