Ted Ligety Wins World Cup GS

has won the World Cup giant slalom in Slovenia for the third year in a row. This is his first World Cup win this season, and he cinched it with a combined time of 2:22. Austria's Marcel Hirscher took second and Norway's Kjetil Jansrud took third. There will be another giant slalom event on Saturday, and reports that this makes Ligety a strong candidate to win the crystal globe, which he won in 2008. 

''I have a lot of confidence now,'' Ligety said. ''But it's super hardin this sport to repeat your success and to have good race after goodrace.''
