Living and working in the mountain town of Fernie, British Columbia, you never know what the next job will entail. When we were asked to come out and photograph the first ever speed-fly—parachuting with skis—down the Three Sisters, we couldn’t say no. The idea was conjured up by our friends at Kavu Clothing and Elevation Showcase and executed by the creative—and crazy—.
We piled into the helicopter with the athletes and rode to the top of the Three Sisters, a well-known 9,000-foot peak near Fernie. Trying to stay on the ground as much as possible, the athletes ripped down the mountain at speeds up to 100mph. It was a beautiful balance of skiing and floating through the air, and one that made for very cool photographs as we tracked them from the helicopter.
