have been arriving in wildlife rehabilitation centers in Arkansas following a spill in the region, leading conservation groups to fear that the oil has reached nearby Lake Conway. The Associated Press reported Tuesday that a couple of dead ducks and 10 oil-covered birds had been recovered from the area, while the non-profit HAWK center posted pictures of mallards, blue teals, and a muskrat that had fallen victim to the spill. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission and a spokesperson for Exxon have denied that the oil has spread that far.

“I’m an animal lover, a wildlife lover, as probably most of the people here are,” said Allen Dodson, a judge in Arkansas’ Faulkner County. “We don’t like to see that. No one does.”
