Leipheimer Wins Tour of Switzerland

American cyclist won the Tour of Switzerland on Sunday, erasing a near two-minute time deficit in the final time trial to over Italian race leader Damiano Cunego. Leipheimer, 37, finished the 32.5-kilometer individual time trail in 41 minutes, 14 seconds, bringing his total time for the nine-stage tour to 31 hours, 45 minutes, 2 seconds. “I have to concede, when you look at the field, the history of the race and how tough the course was this year, I think it’s my biggest win ever,” Leipheimer told . Leipheimer was Lance Armstrong’s teammate in 2000 and 2001 on team U.S. Postal, and in 2010 on team RadioShack. He is a three-time winner of the Tour of California, a second-place finisher in the Vuelta a Espana, and has four top-ten finishes in the Tour de France.
