Hollywood, CA —With the entertainment community gearing up for the Oscars last week, a select group of Hollywood celebrities showed their green side last Friday night at Global Green’s Global Warming Party. The event was organized to benefit the green rebuilding of the city of New Orleans as well as Global Green’s global warming initiatives. It was also a kick-off for Global Green’s efforts to have celebrities arrive at last Sunday’s Academy Awards in environmentally friendly vehicles. “The event was a tremendous success,” said Global Green’s Ruben Aronin. “It was sold-out with over 1200 attendees and raised over $170,000 for Global Green USA’s Climate Change Initiatives including the green rebuilding of New Orleans.”

Celebrities like Kate Bosworth, Julie Delpy, and Daryl Hannah were on hand for an event emceed by the Fugees’ Pras Michel and anchored by musical talents Liz Phair and Fishbone.
Stars arrived on a symbolic green carpet outside the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard, which featured three stories of displays devoted to sustainable technologies and renewable resources from companies like Solar Integrated Technologies, CREE LED Lighting, Centropolis , Napapijri, Participant Productions, Livingreen, Earth Ascents, and more, showcasing anything from sofas to picture frames and candles made with environmentally friendly materials—even martini glasses made with recycled glass.
While over 1,000 supporters flooded the theater, according to Global Green, the event was declared carbon neutral by the organization Clean and Green, which utilized 100 percent wind power to compensate for emissions from the event.
The event was a run-up to Global Green’s “Red Carpet, Green Cars” campaign. According to Global Green, this year, celebrities like Best Supporting Actor winner George Clooney and nominees Felicity Huffman, Frances McDormand, and David Strathairn, along with other A-listers like Naomi Watts, Joaquin Phoenix, and Jennifer Aniston, all arrived on the red carpet in environmentally friendly vehicles rather than limousines.
