It's no secret NASA has giant lasers, but instead of zapping the world with them Dr. Evil style, scientists are using a few of them to map the height of the earth's forests, .
NASA scientists used data collected by the ICEsat (ice, cloud and elevation satellite), and Terra and Aqua satellites (earth observation satellites) to make a topographical map of forests around the world. The map will be published in scientific journal, , in August.
So where are the world's tallest forests? The satellite images found they're in North America's Pacific Northwest and in Southeast Asia. to read more about the project.
