“Nobody likes to run on pavement,” Ray Zahab said. “Expecially when it's 38 degree celsius pavement.”
Zahab's plans to run offroad across the Atacama desert were rudely interrupted by a huge gorge. Instead, he ran 21 km down the Pan-Pacific highway on little to no shoulder, between speeding trucks and a steep cliff. The interruption added another 35 km to his trip.
