The Department of Interior is considering as National Monuments. Some state officials are angry they have not been consulted about the move. But a Department of Interior spokesperson has said these are merely ideas for National Monuments.
The areas under consideration include:
• the San Rafael Swell in Utah,
• New Mexico's Otero Mesa,
• Montana’s Northern Prairie,
• Heart of theGreat Basin in Nevada,
• Northwest Sonoran Desert in Arizona,
• Colorado's Vermillion Basin, and
• the San Juan Islands in Washington.
