The drilling project, whose goal is to improve scientists understanding of climate change, has just finished pulling up about 75 percent of a carbon dioxide record of the past 100,000 years, reports. This record is supposed to be the most precise possible of the changes in carbon dioxide levels on the planet. Scientists want to learn more about the relationship between carbon dioxide and temperature so they can figure out cause and effect.
