The Environmental Protection Agency to add more ethanol to the standard fuel mix, despite the fact that most cars are equipped to handle the new ethanol-to-fuel ratio. The EPA was meant to decide by December 1 whether or not to approve the request petitioned by Growth Energy and 54 ethanol manufacturers, but has decided to postpone their decision until next year. The request was initially denied in reaction to automakers who wish to verify that the new mix will not be damaging to their vehicles. Growth Energy and ethanol manufacturers seek to increase the standard fuel mix to 15% ethanol.
