High speed Internet access is now available in the Mount Everest base camp, Reuters .

Nepali telecom company Ncell constructed the 3G-capable structure to give coverage “to the people living in the Khumbu Valley, trekkers, and climbers alike,” Lars Nyberg, chief of Nordic telecoms firm TeliaSonera, told .

Climbers will no longer have to solely depend on expensive and inefficient satellite coverage to reach the outside world.

The company claims they made the world's highest video call from 5,300 meters (17,388 feet) on Thursday.
