Great Britian’s Mark Cavendish won stage 11 of the Tour de France Wednesday morning, reversing Tuesday’s stage ten finish and taking command of the green jersey, awarded to the race’s top sprinter. The win is Cavendish’s 18th career tour title and his second this year, following an earlier sprint . Only seven other riders in tour history . Cavendish took a clear victory over Germany’s Andre Grieple and U.S. rider Tyler Farrar on Wednesday’s 104-mile stage from Blaye-les-Mines to Lavaur. Greipel, Cavendish’s former teammate on Team HTC, won his first-ever tour stage yesterday as Cavendish finished second. Dutch rider Thomas Voeckler remains in yellow, at least : The overall race begins in earnest tomorrow with a 131-mile stage that finishes atop Luz-Ardiden and includes an intermediate climb up the brutal col du Tourmalet.
