Shain Gandee, one of the stars of MTV’s popular reality show Buckwild, in a truck near his hometown of Sissonville, West Virginia. The bodies of Shane, 21, his uncle David Gandee, 48, and Donald Robert Myers, 27, were found in a Ford Bronco by a friend who was searching the area for the trio.

The truck was found stuck in deep mud with its muffler submerged, leading officials to believe they may have died from carbon monoxide poisoning. The sheriff’s office reported no signs of foul play. Autopsies are currently being performed to determine the exact cause of death.

MTV has released a statement regarding the death:

“We are shocked and saddened by the terrible news about Shain Gandee, and those involved in this tragic incident,” MTV said in a statement. “We are waiting for more information but at this time, our main concern is for the Gandee family and their friends. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

“Shain had a magnetic personality, with a passion for life that touched everyone he met and we will miss him dearly.”

Filming for the second season of Buckwild, which follows the lives of nine young adults in rural West Virginia, as of Monday afternoon.
