One Million Cyclists Take Over Germany’s Autobahn

One million cyclists crowded a 37-mile stretch of the world's most famous highway last Sunday, .

, known to car enthusiasts as the highway with no speed limit (there is an 80mph suggested limit), was shut down in west Germany for a cultural celebration of the Ruhr region.

If the spectacle of a million cyclists cruising down the superhighway weren't enough, there was also a dining table (make that 20,000 individual tables shoved together) stretching the entire 37 miles that drew an additional two million festival participants.
