This morning Lance Armstrong joined Colorado Governor Bill Ritter at the state capital to announce that the inaugural Quiznos Pro Challenge will take place next August, the reports. The Challenge has been sanctioned by the International Cycling Union and stands to attract a venerable field.
The seven-stage race will take place over eight days. Its route has yet to be determined, but it will feature mountain, sprint, and urban sections and the termini will likely both be in Denver. Next year, the Challenge will be the only professional-level tour on American soil next year outside of the Tour of California.
Armstrong has made it relatively clear that his career in the Tour de France has come to an end, but of the possibility of riding on this side of the pond he simply said, “Never say never.”
