Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos has announced plans to recover one or more of Apollo 11’s engines from the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. Bezos discovered the engines, which powered Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon and have been underwater for more than 40 years, through a privately funded deep sea sonar mission. He claims the Apollo 11 launch, which occurred when he was 5 years old, . Bezos says to donate the engines to the Smithsonian Institute if he is successful. The engines remain the property of NASA.
