Two competitors were shot Sunday during Ironman 70.3 Puerto Rico in the island’s capital of San Juan when two vehicles exchanging gunfire sped past the bicycling leg of the triathlon.

Wisconsin resident Liz Boivin, 26, was hit in the left calf while Puerto Rican racer Miguel Arroyo Ramos, 49, took three bullets to the left side. Both were reported in stable condition, .
