A Stanford University professor is working on a vaccine that would shield humans from chronic stress, .
Dr. Robert Sapolsky, a neuroscience professor who first studied stress in baboons 30 years ago, has to carry engineered protective genes into the brain to neutralize stress hormones. The hormones he's targeting, glucocorticoids, are an important part of the body's immune system. However, he believes humans release too many of them in response to daily events, unlike animals who only release them in fight or flight situations.
But don't give up yoga just yet–human trials of the vaccine are still years away.
