Rock-climbing schools in New Hampshire
Question: I’ll be in the New Hampshire area from middle July ’til middle August. I would like to do a rock-climbing course. Is there any good school in the area, and do you think I could do a beginners course in the time I have available?

ϳԹ Adviser: Given the fact that New Hampshire’s official nickname is “The Granite State,” it should come as no big surprise that the White Mountains are one of the top rock-climbing destinations in the country. Which of course means that there are an inordinate number of climbing schools in the North Conway area, most of which offer
full-day or multi-day group courses throughout the summer.

A few to consider: International Mountain Climbing School (603-356-6316), Eastern Mountain Sports Climbing School (603-356-5433), and the Appalachian Mountain Club (603-466-2725). Additionally, if you’re looking for an individual climbing guide for a one-on-one workshop, contact the Mountain Guides Alliance at 603-356-5310, a referral agency that can put you in contact with
local independent guides.
