Over at , discusses how the fist-bump may be a solution to slowing the spread of germs caused by the handshake. Seriously. He talks of other nations that greet in a manner other than the handshake, and how they are less apt to spread germs as a result. Givens credits the Obamas for the growing popularity of the fist bump, and mentions how even the Dalai Llama bumped fists with the mayor of Memphis this past September during his visit. According to Givens, the fist bump — which originates partly from the sportsman's high five and partly from the Black Power fist of the 1970s — is here to stay.
