The Tye Haus Is the A-Frame Cabin All Over Instagram
And it's on our bucket list

Look at nearly every cabin-porn Instagram feed and you’ll likely find a version of this photo. It’s a portrait of the Tye Haus, one of three A-frames in the Tye River Cabin Company’s collection in Skykomish, Washington. “Instagram fell in love with the place,” says owner Tom Feldman.

Decorated with mid-century modern accents, the A-frame boasts remodeled cathedral ceilings, new custom windows, and a tin roof that makes the Washington rain part of the experience. “It’s like white noise for grown-ups,” Feldman says.

Feldman credits photographer and influencer Alex Strohl for putting Tye Haus on the social-media map, but it wasn’t originally meant to be rentable. “I bought it because I wanted a ski cabin,” Feldman says. “But it’s famous on Instagram for a reason. There’s so much to do up here.” Located about an hour east of Seattle and 45 minutes west of Leavenworth, Washington, Tye Haus is at the convergence of skiing and mountain biking at Stevens Pass (which is just minutes away), rafting, and iconic alpine hikes, including trails to Lake Serene, Barclay Lake, and Heybrook Lookout.

But if you’re looking to have a quieter weekend getaway, staying in is encouraged. “I take pride in my curated DVD collection,” Feldman says of his hundreds-strong assortment of eighties and nineties cult classics, available to guests.

The cabin is currently going through the last stages of a remodel, with updates to the kitchen, master bedroom, and bathroom projected to be finished by the end of this summer.

Despite the ongoing work, the Tye Haus is open for reservations for parties of up to five people. According to Feldman, it averages out at about $200 a night, and you can reserve it exclusively through Airbnb. It’s booked 365 days a year, so if you’re looking to get into this Skykomish escape, start your planning now.
