The Ventura, California, based clothing company, , has partnered with New Belgium Brewing to craft a commemorative adult beverage that pays homage to the company’s 40-year history.
The Organic Lager is “tawny in color, medium bodied, with a malty character and earthy hops,” according to . And of course, the beer is brewed with Cascade organic hops honoring Patagonia’s long-standing commitment to certified organics. The name, California Route, is a tribute to the famous route on Mount Fitz Roy, originally climbed by Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard in 1968.
Patagonia acknowledged early on that was the brewery for the job. “Not only are they forward-thinking in their business and brewing practices, but their beers have been a go-to for our crew and customers around the country for a long time. They were great to work with and we couldn’t be more stoked about the project,” said Yvon’s son Fletcher Chouinard.
The beer is limited edition and hard to find. The company says, “You might find a six-pack somewhere near your local Patagonia Retail Store but it’s pretty rare.” California Route is available in the New Belgium tasting rooms and at certain Fort Collins liquor stores.
