Snow Peak’s die cast aluminum has a fancy name (meaning sandwich in Italian), but really it's just a panini maker.

Snow Peak's Tramezzino. Snow Peak’s Tramezzino.

Well, maybe not just a panini maker. The Tramezzino is essentially a George Forman grill for campers that almost instantly grills, toasts, or melts whatever you seal inside. To use the Tramezzino, flip out the bamboo handles, place your meal inside, clip the ends together, and place over a heat source.

Dual interior pods can each handle a half-sandwich for fireside croque-monsieurs, quesadillas, melted Fontina on farm bread, or anything else you can dream up. During our extensive testing, we also made scones, personal frittatas, and Laotian poached fish over an open blaze and also at home on the gas burner.

The Tramezzino’s cooking pods have a non-stick finish, which allows for easy food removal and clean up. Once you’re fed, the Tramezzino’s handles fold up and the whole thing, which weights just 1.8 pounds, tucks into a muslin carry case.
